This is a long post, but if you care about the site, please read all of it. It is very important. Also, please post a comment. No "that sucks" kind of comments, please leave a decent sized comment.

So, as you may or may not know, the site has been down for about a week. I don't exactly know the whole story behind it, but apparently something happened when our old host was changing servers. Our old host's servers kept crashing because there were too many accounts that were not being used. So, in response they decided to terminate all of the inactive accounts and move all of the active accounts to a new server. This is a very smart move for them.

HOWEVER, this is where I get angry. Instead of checking each account by hand, they decided to write a TERRIBLE script to automatically delete inactive accounts. This is a very BAD idea. For some reason, this script felt that my account was classified as "inactive" and therefore, decided to terminate my hosting account, and as a result, deleted all of the files and information associated with my account. So basically the site was completely deleted.

Obviously, being the high school educated student that I am, I am smart enough to backup a year old site. Sadly, I only backup the site every Friday. Well, the problem is the site went down on a Friday, so I was unable to backup the site the week that the site went down.

The major reason the site was down for so long is because I was on my senior trip while it went down. I checked the site Friday morning and wanted to back it up before the trip, because I am paranoid (ironic Razz

) about bad stuff happening while I am away. So, I was unable to access the site for about six days anyways, so I figured that the site would be fixed by the time I got home. However, when I did get home I was not welcomed with the good old ParanoidK screen, or even the good-ole "Unable to connect" error. Instead I got a 404 Error. A 404 Error makes no sense because a 404 Error means that the site isn't offline. It means that the site can not be found.

So, as a result, I asked on the old hosts forums. Well, while I was gone our host switched from the good "post a question on the forums for everyone to help you" method, to this new stupid "official support ticket" system. So, I posted a topic on the forums anyways and submitted a support ticket (basically a message to the staff saying they messed up) and in the forum topic a staff member said my account was terminated and my topic was locked.

After I read that I decided that I had enough with that host (I will rant about the old host in another topic) and decided that I would find a new host. Finally, I found this host and here we are. I really like this host better, so I hope it's good. It's the best one I could find.

As for the lost data, we have lost two weeks worth of data. I have restored the site from it's state on November 8th, 2008.

I am sorry, but I am unable to get those posts back. Even the updates were lost, which is not good. The Lit Light Bulb item will not be returning, it was a terrible item to program and it was a terrible item as a whole.

There is only one member who I am giving posts back to and that is Lego. Lego has a lot of posts before the site went down. As a result of this backup, his posts were reset to 0. I do not think this is fair. To be fair, I have given him 75 posts and some money.

However, if you were affected by the backup, please post here and I will reward you with 20,000 money (including Lego). Trust me, I know who was affected and who was not affected.

Another thing, you can re-post anything you want, any topics, any posts, anything. Right now there are no rules restricting your posting. All I care about is that you post.

I hope you all remain loyal members here and I hope you do not let this downtime affect your opinion of ParanoidK. I had nothing to do with this downtime. I am terribly sorry.

hey thanks for giving me those posts back. I had a feeling i was gonna lose everything when the site was down that long. great job getting it back up. i didnt think you would do it that fast

and it was a good thing you unplugged your mic on UYA. those guys would have annoyed the hell out of you =]
